Re: 6th year service/cambelt
Hi all,
I’ve just had full service + MOT done at the local garage I have been using for years, very reliable and great service. Cost £305 inc usual oil, filter change, air filter and plugs. My no 1 plug was very wet due to a leak on the coil thingy - which I’m having replaced next week.
I remembered that was an issue hanging over from last year. My indicator switch has also given up self cancelling so I had a new switch fitted £197 genuine replacement part from renault part alone is £140 + vat.
I’ve a 1.6 gt.
I could have lived without having the indicator fixed but like to keep my car as up together as poss.
Have been considering cam belt but due to low mileage may well leave it til next year - had the cambelt done on my wifes Clio earlier in the year - thats a 06 model which shes had from new with 55,000 on it.
Hope some or all of this info is useful.

@bunyip The Cambelt needs a change at 6 years. Even on low mileage.

My car had only covered 12500 miles but I still had it changed. Peace of mind and the thought of the catastrophic damage to the top end of the engine if it failed.

Replaced cambelt - £332
Had to ask them to reduce the cost from approx £400 as they originally quoted £290!
