New Discs and Pads Empty New Discs and Pads

Post by renton beersworth Fri 17 Apr 2020 - 11:23

At the last MOT Test a few months ago I was given an advisory on the Brake discs and pads.
And it came to pass, that whilst driving to the local supermarket ,yesterday, along with my wife , that the dreaded grinding noise became apparent.
So back home, dropped of Maggie so she couild get her car to pick me up at the garage.
So new discs and pads all round. The garage guys told me I can have it back maybe Mon or Tues next week.
I will keep you posted on how things are and the cost. R.B.

New Discs and Pads Empty re: new brake discs and pads

Post by renton beersworth Mon 20 Apr 2020 - 16:47

So I got the car back this afternoon, New front discs and pads, new rear discs and pads, new wear indicators and fresh brake fluid in the system.

All for the sum of £357.00.

Drove the car home, all is well, brakes probably 20% better than they were before.

Advised to check the tightness of the wheel nuts after about 100 miles, which I can do myself.

All in all quite pleased. My mechanic thought that the discs he removed were probably the originals, and with the car sitting at

just under 29k miles he is probably correct.  R.B.

£357 for a full set of pads & discs sounds pretty good to me.
