New Owner saying HELLO to everyone
Hi Everyone.
Well I have gone and done it at long last I have bought myself a Blue Renault Wind 1.2 TCE GT Line.
I pick it up on Monday from EMG Motors in Cambridge.
I have to travel just over 200 miles on the train to get my new baby not looking forward to the trip on the train but I am really looking forward to the drive back home.
Hope to see some other Winds on my way back home.

Re: New Owner saying HELLO to everyone
Hi Babs.
Thank you for a warm welcome.
Yes you are so right I love the colour Blue it looks amazing in the pictures
I will be picking the car up around 3pm this Monday. I will be getting the train from Wallasey Village to Ely and then to Cambridge North. I did give the salesman at EMG Motors a hint if they could pick me up from Ely and I would have paid them for picking me up but he quickly told me to get the train :DI will be on Milton Road in Cambridge, then onto the A14, A428 onto the A1198 back onto the A14 then onto the M6 onto the M42 back onto the M6 Toll Road then the M62/ M56/M53 Then home destination for a nice cop of tea as long as I dont get lost lol.
I will stop a couple of times for a cuppa at a service station so hopefully I will see a few Winds on the way. Carnt wait so excited the next couple of days are going to seem like weeks.
I will let everyone know how I get on and put some pictures up as soon as i can.
Thank you for a warm welcome.

I remember the feeling so well. I had to wait a week... but that was seven years ago. I still get a buzz when I get back to the car and always say "Wow, what a cute car that is... Wonder who it belongs too.... ME

I have already been the but-end of a lot of jokes about my Wind. They are all jealous and I bet they will all want to have a drive of my Wind when they see it. No chance of that lol

Re: New Owner saying HELLO to everyone
Welcome aboard! Enjoy your motoring.
I'll keep out of colour arguments for now but mine is a Blue 1.6 GT Line with a black front & black wheels.
Personally I think the front is more "positive" (NOT AGGRESSIVE OF COURSE) than the standard set up.
Amazing what you can do with a pot of matt black & a brush!!
Yes: Daughters do sometimes take the Mick but as she has a bright orange Audi TTS with the 300bhp upgrade she does deserve bragging rights!!!

Re: New Owner saying HELLO to everyone
Well I got home safe and sound had a fantastic 220 mile drive home with no issues except when I was braking hard the brakes felt hard and
it took a long time to stop the car not sure if thats normal for a Wind. She is in mint condition and very nippy for a 1.2 over the moon with the performance and handling of the car. Tried the roof today works grate I think the neighbours think I am having a mid crisis Lol. Sadly didnt see any other Winds on my way home maybe next time.

Don't have a problem with the brakes mine stops quite quickly maybe you just need to press a bit harder.

Re: New Owner saying HELLO to everyone
The brakes are great when I drive around 30 mph stops instantly its when I tried to brake hard and I am heavy footed at 60/70 on the motorway seemed to take a long time to respond if someone would have pulled in front of me and I had to do an emergency stop there is no way the car would have stopped in time . I will take the wheels off and have a good check on all the discs and pads before I go on the motorway. I love the car and want her to be perfectBarbs wrote:Don't have a problem with the brakes mine stops quite quickly maybe you just need to press a bit harder.

Re: New Owner saying HELLO to everyone
As it was such a fantastic day today I sorted out a couple of issues with the car.
The roof was sticking which was an easy job I stopped the roof halfway through its cycle and put some old sheeting inside the roof compartment and sprayed a can of WD 40 over all the moving parts which removed lots of dirt then I sprayed the moving parts with anti fling motorcycle chain oil, left it for 10 minutes and it works perfect.
The remote key for opening the door did not work so I took it apart and the rubber insert had got a hole in it so i cut a small piece of rubber of a tyre repair patch put it in the hole, no glue required, put it back together and it now works.
Last but not least I mentioned that the brakes were hard with little response so I took it for a run braking lots to get the discs warm/hot pulled into a service station and checked the discs the front discs were hot but the rear were cold indication that the rear brakes were not working so I carefully drove home jacked up the rear of the car placed jacks under the car. I had to remove the wheels and remove the brake pads cleaned all the caliper applied copper grease put it all back together and took the car for I drive Hay Presto they now work great. What had happened is the front and rear pads had been replace but the rear pad had stuck solid so I drove over 200 miles only braking on the front discs no wonder there was a front end wobble when I had to brake I thought it was the road workers leaving the tarmac in such bad condition. My apologies to the road workers for calling you all sorts on the way home about you poor workmanship. Carnt wait till tomorrow to take her for a drive. .
