Hi all.

I have just got my 1st renault wind and found this in the door card.

Does anyone know what it is?

My eco shifter does not seem to light up so could it be linked to that?

Thanks.

Hello and welcome!

No idea what was on your door I’m afraid!

The eco shifter doesn’t come on the Wind although I seem to remember someone saying in the early days of the forum that they got it to come on by red-lining the car on the gear change, so it seems to be either disabled or set at max.

I am loving the car so far. It is so nimble.

It has a few issues that are getting fixed under warranty.

I also have a laguna coupe. The 1st renaults i have owned and love them both.

At a guesstimate.

It could be some sort of identification "tag"? As the cars travel down the production line they use some ID tag so that when the vehicle arrives at each station, the station knows what options to fit so that it matches the order and specification.

If it isn't that. It could be some radio billing tag for toll roads (as used on the Humber Bridge for example) or an automatic activator for garage doors?

It seems to have at least two antennas and either a resonator or coded NFC chip which is what makes me think of those suggestions.

I only ever got the gear shift indicator to light once, approaching 65 MPH in second gear. The 1.2L engine asked me never to try again!

Hi Alex, welcome to Wind ownership.

On the sticker in your mystery electronic device there is a QR code (3D barcode). Have you tried scanning that with your mobile phone (you may need to download an app) to see if it returns any useful info?

When you found it, was it actually connected to any wiring?

I don't think it's anything that is user operated, as there doesn't appear to be any buttons to press or click. Unless the silver object top left on the circuit board is a button, the black plastic housing seems to protrude slightly at this point

I tried a google image search with your picture. Google believes this is an electronic component.  :-)
