Cam Belt Change
Just wondered if anyone in Kent or nearby has had the cam belt done on their 1.6 VVT yet.
In theory mine won't need doing until 2017 but I may get it done earlier for peace of mind as a 6 year interval is quite unusual & doesn't seem to relate to the 5 yr interval recommended for some other Renaults.
For reasons I won't go into I am not 100% confident in my local official Renault repairers. I may have to use them; as it's not a job I can do on my front drive; unless someone can recommend somewhere else from personal experience.

I use NWJ Autocare https://www.facebook.com/NWJAutocare/
Neil looks after a few of my cars, and is a very competent mechanic. He has now taken on a second mechanic (Connor), as he's so busy.
If you choose to use him, and roll up there in your Wind, I'm sure he will tell you that he knows another idiot with one.

Araf,
Thanks for info they do look like they deal with specialist stuff whose owners like to use someone they trust.
Not too far from me either.

Re: Cam Belt Change
Hi - what did you do in the end? Mine will be due a change soon (years rather than miles). Anyone else had there's changed (surely)?

Re: Cam Belt Change
Renault charge £399 for the cam belt/kit/labour, and £515 with a water pump.

AS you probably know there is a separate thread telling the tale of woe re my cambelt.
That said all now seems well.

Re: Cam Belt Change
Regarding the cam belt my wind is 7 years old but on 50k miles. The cam belt hasn't been changed yet - should I ask the supplying dealer (car shop ) to do it as they serviced it before I collected last weekend but didn't do this ?

Re: Cam Belt Change
It needs doing if it hasn't been done. It isn't the mileage alone the belt deterates with age. Shop around for prices. Previous owner may of already had it done. What month was it first registered?

Re: Cam Belt Change
I've been on a mechanic quote sight and it came back at £260 for it - but shouldn't the dealer I bought it from have done it ? I can check with the garage that serviced it before otherwise !

Re: Cam Belt Change
Dealer I bought it from agreed today it was an oversight to not replace at the service before I bought it so is doing it for free
