Winter weather
Well it is now Winter after some weird weather late last year and the last couple of weeks. We have had a flurry of snow and if we have that then some of you will be having terrible weather. Stay safe....

Just freezing and wet up our way, with snow on the hills and of course, 'Ben Lomond'.

Fabulous snowy fells round here, I'd post pics but don't seem to be able to do it on the Moby. A quick dash up the M6 over Shap today, clear blue skies, snow on the fells, minus 2, 80 something mph, top down obviously!!

The Shap is always my worry in case the snow gates are closed. The Lakes can get cut off.
I just love the lakes, just wish I could win the lottery and move there, in fact I have a lot of Ann Blundell's framed prints of the Lakes in my house, the lattest being this one I got as a Xmas present. Do you recognise the area knebby?

oh Knebby you do tell tales top down at minus 2 and we know you were only travelling at 70mph. Yes, the newbie.

Nearly 1,000 miles done since I got it. It's surprising how differently you have to drive the 1.6 from the 1.2 to get it to do the dame thing. Not much happens below 3,500 revs whereas the turbo 1.2 pulls strongly from any revs, and at any given speed in the same gear the 1.6 uses more revs than the 1.2, for example at 70 the 1.6 is at 3,500 revs compared with 3,100 in the 1.2. I keep reaching to change up to 6th!
The result, driving the same roads at the same speeds, is that I'm barely at 34 mpg in the 1.6 whereas the 1.2 is always between 38 and 42. Add in a louder exhaust note that tells you that the engine is working harder and I'm currently finding it a more tiring and more costly drive than the 1.2 without being any quicker in real life driving.
Fuller road test comparison to follow in due course!

You are totally right, as when I was deciding on the Wind, I drove both engine models, and there is quite a difference. I went for the 1.6 mainly because I wanted red, and it was the only red wind I could get, as red models were scarce (though did not know how scarce they were at that time)
I am not really a fast driver nowadays (being mature in years, and would prefer to survive, don't we all ), but enjoy the acceleration and grunt of the 1.6 when the needs be. The main diference I found was that the 1.2 is a far qiueter car within the cabin. But I really like the exhaust note and engine noise off the 1.6 now. Would miss it if I went to a 1.2.
Anyway due to the lovely shape of the car and the quick roof change, this is why I wanted a Wind in the first place, I would be happy with either a 1.2 Wind, or a 1.6 Wind

I had the roof off earlier - probably the first time this year.

Re: Winter weather
I was topless in Keswick yesterday as it was a sunny 14 degrees. I then drove 20 miles to Penrith where it was zero degrees and snowing! Weird!!

I am jealous both of your weather and that you passed my favorite pub in the Lakes, half way between Keswick and Penrith, the Sportsmans Inn, where the meals are the same both sides but the prices are not, Right hand side is the Pub, Left hand side is the Resturant, where it is double priced for same food.
Guess which side I go too
I always get homemade steakpie and chips washed down with a pint of Sneck Lifter
Feel like going there right now

We've had sunshine. There was a Northerly wind, but out of the wind it was glorious.
Time to cook in the garden with fire this weekend, I think.

That's our plan today. Not worth trying to get anywhere unless it's on foot. The Tour de Yorkshire finishes a few hundred yards from our house. Ladies race around 11.30 Men's about 5.30 so will have a wander down. Then it's back to light the Bbq and get the smoker going.
