Don't judge a book by it's cover!
Went to put some shopping in my boot at Bluewater shopping centre to see a large Merc driven by a lady in her late 70s / early 80s being ushered into the space next to me by another lady of similar age.
At that point I was worried for my paintwork!!
I was seriously guilty if stereotyping.
As I walked up she made a big point of saying that they were being careful & how much she liked the Wind. She expressed surprised when I said it wasn't new & asked if I'd imported it from France as she'd never seen one before. At this point I began to realise that she knew her motors & had experience of MG's & other classic British cars in the past.
She asked to have a look at the Wind & we got chatting. As I showed her the boot capacity she immediately spotted the double skinned boot lid & asked what went there. The roof I said.
Further conversation revealed that we had both driven to the Med about twice a year for many years but after her husband died recently she couldn't do it any more.
At this point she was almost tearful obviously missing those adventures across France & beyond with her husband.
What car did you tour in I asked. A White Rolls Royce Convertible she answered!!!!
I was duly impressed.
Lesson: External appearances can hide a real petrol head!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think we all make the error of judging car owners.

Let's be honest here. They DO have indicators but; being above lesser mortals; they just don't use them!!!!!!!!!!
