Sorry to hear that. You will just have to treat this as your Christmas present. I for one would prefer to get parts for my car as presents rather than the usual jumpers etc.johntymac wrote:HI EVERYONE, CHRISTMAS HAS BEEN CANCELED FOR ME THIS YEAR .LOL GORDON FAILED HIS MOT NEEDED FRONT DISCS, FRONT PADS, REAR DISCS REAR PADS 2 REAR COIL SPRINGS OOFT. Just remember....A fully working and reliable Wind is a gift that just keeps giving every day !!....not just at Christmas
Hopefully you can still afford a sprout or two after the painful bill though.....

Same for me in July but 1 front 1 rear spring broken, 4 new tyres and a gear box case, oh and some corroded brake pipes replacing. Ouch! Cost was over £1300, but all perishables, so actually quite good value for money I thought.

Re: MOT FAILED/PASSED
Had to do all of the brakes on mine over the last year or so.
Fortunately my background working on classic cars as a hobby plus my daughter's partner being an ex motor technician saved labour costs & allowed internet searches to get best deal on parts.
Having such a short sales run in the UK means that all Winds are currently at that stage in their lives.
Worth the work to keep my Wind on the road as a daily driver.
Let's all continue to enjoy!!

Re: MOT FAILED/PASSED
I got rid of my 3 year old 208 GTI and bought my wind. I got bored with the 208 as it was too new and I couldn't fiddle with anything, best part of having a car is fixing it. Far happier with the Wind and all the little jobs I have had to do. My wife is also happy with the extra money in the bank from selling the 208. Should pay for all the fixes for a few years.pittstop wrote:Had to do all of the brakes on mine over the last year or so.

Re: MOT FAILED/PASSED
Believe it or not I still sometimes miss getting out the Grease Gun (What's that I hear many of you saying) every few thousand miles on steering & suspension.
By those standards the Wind maintenance free!!

Re: MOT FAILED/PASSED
Despite having my MoT date extended from July to Jan I decided to get it done earlier.
Passed today with an advisory on near side track rod end.
Will save that job for the warmer weather.
Don't know if ambient temp in testing bay has an impact on emissions (it was 2C today) but although it passed for emissions the readings were much higher than usual.
Fast Idle
CO Target 0.20% Last years reading 0.00% This year 0.15%
HC Target 200ppm Last Year 14ppm This Year 169ppm
WEIRD.

Has anyone else got emission figures for their 1.6.

Re: MOT FAILED/PASSED
Thanks for info.
Interesting you have a CO2 reading.
My customer print out from the BOSTON MoT testing equipment doesn't show CO2 at all
It shows CO % at Fast & Natural idle & Hydrocarbons (HC)ppm at Fast Idle.
