Totally dead
Thought I'd share my experience this morning with you guys and girls
Drove from my house to New Romney...about 10 minutes drive....no problems. Parked up, locked the car. Returned 15 minutes later..unlocked the car and got in....On trying to start the car I found that the electrics were totally dead..,no lights on dashboard...no hazards...boot wouldn't open....but bizarrely the windows still went down about 1cm when the doors were opened and then back up when the doors were closed ??
Eventually I called the RAC...mechanic arrived and checked battery and fuses on top of the battery ...all ok
He then disconnected the negative terminal, then waited 30 seconds before reconnecting...to reset the ECU...
Tried the ignition...problem solved !!
My advise...always carry a 10mm spanner in the glove box..just in case....NOT in the boot though, in case it wont open.

Re: Totally dead
Out of interest did you have to re set your radio, windows, etc after having the battery disconnected?
I think the time may have come to change my 9 yr old battery. Even though it is still starting the car with no problems winter is coming!

Re: Totally dead
Bit the bullet & bought a 62 amp hr battery this morning.
They; a small independent; & well recommended; battery specialist connected a small 12v battery across the connectors so no power loss to the car whilst change taking place so no need to reset anything. The original battery had a little fleecy jumper for extreme northern European conditions but didn't bother to re fit it as no need in UK.
£93 including fitting & 3 yr warranty seemed par for the course for a allegedly "premium brand" battery: an Excide.
The previous battery lasted 9 yrs so this one should see out my Wind ownership before; due to problems with my left leg; I eventually resort to something clutchless.

Re: Totally dead
Sounds like good value...and wise with the winter on it's way
Bad news about your "clutch" leg though...it would be sad to potentially lose a Kent Wind driver....hopefully that day is a long way off
