A couple of photos of my...
Wind!
Glad the weather is good. Love having the top down. Pity the electric bike is still imprisoned in the boot that refuses to open...but a solution will be found! :-)

Welcome to the forum.
A Wind on an 05 plate? What's the story to that?

When I press the rubber button release - I get no sense of anything moving inside (if that is what you mean).

I would guess that is the problem but the mechanics of the button I don't understand will ask.

a message from our Guru Araf
Looking through various forums, there's quite a few Renaults with dodgy boot switches. Some seem to work for a while with the engine running, but it's not a long term fix.
As it's all controlled by the body control module, a low battery could also cause problems, so disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes to reset the system could be tried.
Apart from those two, I don't know what to suggest.

Mine also has a personalised plate AA61JAN which is correct 61 for it's age but nothing to do with me as the original owner left it on the car when she traded it in.
The previous; original; owner was called Janette.
The AA? Was she with the Automobile Association or Alcoholics Anonymous?

hi ian this may help!
pop out the button with a screwdriver, its clipped in on each side (dont force it too hard its only plastic) one side may pop out then pop out the other.
once you have popped it out, unplug it.
just to make shure unlock your car before doing the next stage.
now if the button is faulty when you short out the two connections on the yellow plug
(with something like a bent needle or somethin like that)
the boot lock should pop open
if not then there is something wrong else where
hope this helped

Re: A couple of photos of my...
i also had a problem opening my boot a few weeks ago, the battery was low on charge it wasn't able to start the car but it was able to unlock the doors with the remote. i had jump leads in the boot but there wasn't sufficient charge to open the boot. it was fine opening the doors and locking them but the boot no chance.
the car was stood still a few days because of the lockdown so it slowly drained the battery. i tried to charge it but it must of killed a few cells in it. so got a new one £80 ouch but its been fine now.
ian/eon give us a update if you got in cheers

Re: A couple of photos of my...
Shorting the yellow plug didn't get any response from the lock - so obviously the fault lies elsewhere. I have it booked into the garage for next Wed for them to nose.
Batteries - mine went flat during lockdown - called out AA. It seemed easier, considering everywhere was closed, to let them fit a new battery...VERY expensive.

Re: A couple of photos of my...
sounds expensive ouch
it sounds like the wire loom from the body to the rear boot is to blame
what usually happens is that the cables from a static place (main chassis)
and then you get an articulated cable (boot) moving
so when you get a cable and you keep bending it it will eventually break
then it breaks connection rendering the switch useless.but the button may be fine
(seen this many times on hatchbacks where the wiper and washers dont work)
to me its a break in the wireing from the car to the boot where it bends every time you open n close it
easy fix if you can get the boot open
good luck

Re: A couple of photos of my...
if you have any knowlage of 12 v systems then continue
open your roof half way as in the picture
on the passinger side there is a large cable there
look here
this has the power to the lock
and this bends all the time you open the boot
so as said before eventually snapes the cable
i may be wrong and its a module thats stopping it opening
but putting the correct power to it will activate it i.e. open/lock
this will possibly help the guys that are going to fix your car
and make it cheaper
but for me its facinating chasing down a fault and finding it
then fixing it
if you had a multimeter and a little know how you could fix this or at least diagnose it
good luck

Re: A couple of photos of my...
Well after a day of struggle my garage have managed to get the boot open. They went in behind the back seats. Had to manoeuvre over my folding bike that was filling the boot. Cut a panel in the plastic to reach the boot release. Having peered at where they came through -I can’t work out how they managed it.
So a new lock, ordered from Renault in France, will be here in a week. My bike is rescued and now locked-up outside. The boot is unlocked but the car drivable because the sheer weight of the boot unit holds it down. It is no doubt all going to cost a bomb – I will let you know when it is all finished, hopefully next week. Who would design a car with no secondary way of getting into the boot!
Thanks for everyone who made suggestions.
