Hi! New member, living in Scotland but originally from Portsmouth. Live near Glasgow but work in Edinburgh. New owner of a 1.2 GT Line Wind that I purchased back in January. Already put 5000 miles on to the 50k it already had and loving it. Even had the roof down quite a bit.

Re: New Members.
Sadly not, I wanted a blue one but at the time black was the only colour I could find this far north. Thinking of maybe adding some Renault Sport stickers in yellow or red to at least brighten the exterior.

Welcome to the Blackwind club, having the roof down is the greatest feeling. Mine goes in for a new timing belt on Wednesday...... Better safe than sorry at 7 and a half years old.

Yep, got that next service too. Very grateful the service period for the belt is longer than my last car. Alfa 156, had a new set of belts and water pump every 36k or 3 years.

Re: New Members.
Be prepared for a hefty bill if you’ve a 1.6 vvt - my main dealer wanted a grand - so I swapped for a 1.2 much more reasonable.
The reason for this is on the 1.6 the undertray, front bumper and headlight has to be removed along with various other parts to access.

Yeah, picked the 1.2 for that reason. I'm not missing the extra power that the 1.6 would give, turbo seems to make up a lot for it.Bunyip wrote:Be prepared for a hefty bill if you’ve a 1.6 vvt - my main dealer wanted a grand - so I swapped for a 1.2 much more reasonable.

Re: New Members.
Hmm, my local garage has quoted £600 so hopefully I'm not going to find they're too far out. That was based on the industry beloved autodata time database

Newbie
Hi all, day three of being a Wind owner (black 60 plate Dynamique S). Already grateful for the forum -'4mm hex key to replace missing manual roof winder and advice on resetting windows. I'm sure there will be more questions! Thanks!

Welcome to the forum Neil, I'm sure you'll spend hours reading the historical posts like I did. There's some real gems of information on them.

Re: New Members.
Renault allocate 5.5 hrs for cam belt etc on a 1.6.
In Jan 2017 it took my main dealer longer than that but they stuck with their original quote which included a discount on the hourly rate as compensation for past problems with work on the Wind & Captur.
Thus: cam belt, tensioners, water pump, auxillary belt, coolant, etc plus a Renault Annual service/safety check with oil, oil filter & pollen filter change all came to £638!
Still a big bill but I got quite a lot for it.

Re: New Members.
Well the timing belt is done. New belt, tensioners, water pump, new auxiliary (fan) belt and antifreeze all for £569. They used a Gates kit, as in their opinion these are the best. Not as bad a price as I was expecting to be fair.
