Upcoming Site News
We’re excited to announce that after several months of design work, trailing different styles and themes, we’re almost ready to launch a refreshed look to the forum. Our user community has grown significantly over the last three years and in preparation for this continued growth, we have decided to make improvements across the site to make it more accessible, more functional and more appealing to you, our users.
URL Update
The first change is that we have a new URL
https://forum.renaultw.in
This is Accessible now, the new URL will help us to be more discoverable on search engines, and therefore attract new community members. It is a more memorable address, and aligns more closely with the Renault Wind Website, allowing easier cross-promotion.
Plus, its nearly 50% shorter than the original address, making it easier to type in for mobile users.
Finally, whilst the old address won’t go away, it does allow us to move the site between providers should it become necessary in the future.
Please update your bookmarks, but note, you will need to log back in the first time you access the site, using your existing username and password.

LOOK AND FEEL
This will be the biggest change and is designed to improve the experience and consistency of experience for both our desktop, tablet AND mobile users, the latter of whom now make up about 50% of our visitors.
We have a new logo based upon the Renault graphic, inspired by ‘Wind’ and drawing out the RenaultSport logo.
There will be more Wind themed similes, and additional service smilies like Facebook and Youtube to draw people’s attention to great content you create or share.
Desktop
The desktop view has been completely refreshed with a new red and white theme. This theme provides enhanced accessibility, with improved contrast for readability. Icons have been refreshed and support a large variety of resolutions.
Fonts will been changed to support a modern, more readable sans-serif font which again scales better on various screen sizes.
Mobile
The mobile version is based upon a ‘responsive’ theme, bringing a modern look to portable devices. We’ve been able to enhance the branding here too, maintaining colours, fonts and styles here in parallel. It has been tested against Android, iOS and Windows Mobile, and a variety of screen sizes and orientations to improve your experience further.

OTHER ENHANCEMENTS
Behind the scenes, we’ve partnered with Cloudflare, who operate a large network of content delivery servers worldwide, which will help us to provide faster access to our websites by bringing content closer to you.
We have enabled HTTPS security which provides encrypted connections between our servers and your devices, helping to protect you, especially when using unsecured networks, and this is available now on the new link.

We're just finalising some of the tweaks, so hope to bring you these changes in the coming weeks, but we wanted to advise our regular users in advance so you weren't surprised by the change.
We'd encourage you to use the new URL right away, and keep checking back to experience the new look.

Re: Upcoming Site News
If you are connected on a mobile on the new Url it defaults to the mobile app. Top right you can change to the desktop version.

Just putting on the final layers of wax polish, hoping to make live in the next couple of weeks.
Good to see folks getting excited.

Unfortunately, the image posting will still be poor (unfortunately the provider only allows 20mb of pictures in total). However, I'm going to put together a guide on how to post elsewhere and share here more easily.

Re: Upcoming Site News
As you might have guessed from some of my posts I'm not exactly a smartphone person!!
I have a good old desktop with a 21in screen & a large lettering keyboard.
Even my mouse, printer; & router are hard wired to the PC!!
That said It does have twin solid state hard drives which I can clone for backup purposes.
My mobile is such that my daughter says I can use publicly anywhere as NO ONE would ever try to steal it.
Barbs: not quite sure what you mean when you say:
"Top right you can change to the desktop version"
Is that at the top right of the forum screen I am looking at now. If so what do I need to do please or do I need to wait a little longer for the new format.
Thanks to all who give up their time to make the Forum work.

Re: Upcoming Site News
Hopefully this will help. On a mobile phone you can get the mobile version photo above. If you want the desktop version there are 3 little dots at the top right hand side, if you tap them a list comes up and you can change to desktop view. Hope that makes sense.

Re: Upcoming Site News
Clicking on the 3 dots but no desktop option offered.
Is what you are showing in your post the view on a smartphone rather than a PC monitor?

Yes it is from a phone. I think you can get the mobile version on a PC but its an option at the bottom.

Re: Upcoming Site News
Hi,
Getting confused. Not difficult!
Are you saying that at present the new format is only available via a smart phone hence your reference to getting the mobile version on a PC.
I guess I wouldn't require a mobile version but, instead, I require a version of the new format that works on a Desktop PC running Windows 10 using Google Chrome as it's browser. Is this yet to come & meantime do I stay on old format?
Perhaps ElNumbre; who I guess is the "techie"; can guide us as I see he mentions going live in a couple of weeks.
Perhaps I'm jumping the gun here?

You can force a desktop to pretend to be a mobile using the developer tools within Chrome and most other browsers, that's one of the ways I've been testing the experience. Luckily I also have access to a range of real devices to verify virtual=reality.
That said, Neither version is live as yet.
And both versions I intend to make live at the same time.
