Windscreen washer pump?
Hi all not been round for a good while as all has been well with my car.
My washers have died and there is no sound from the pump, so I am presuming there is a problem with the pump. (wipers are fine)
Is it located on the washer bottle? This seems to be well buried under the front wing and "bumper."
Do I need to take half the car apart to get to it?
Is it a straight forward job?
Cheers John.

Re: Windscreen washer pump?
My Peugeot 308 regularly used to blow the supply fuse to the washers in the winter.. I assume that there's a supply fuse to the motor on the Wind too ?.. might be worth checking if you've not already done so

The washer pump can be accessed from behind the plastic cowling in the drivers side wheel arch. Remove the wheel and a few screws and clips holding the cowling in place at the front (by the bumper) and you will see the pump behind it.

Thanks for the information, most helpful. I will check the fuses with finger's crossed, but fear it is the pump. I just need a weather window and the will to go and do it!

I have not got round to checking this yet! Thought I would check the fuse first, but which one? It says No1 fuse, but doesn't show where this is located, or what amp it is! There are an awful lot of fuses and they are not the easiest to access.
Anyone know?

Re: Windscreen washer pump?
I started pulling fuses one at a time to check them. As I didn't know which was No1 I started at the corners of the panel, replacing each fuse for a good one, then testing to see if the wipers worked.
Nothing!
So I started working my way through other fuses - which didn't really make sense as it was No1 I was looking for.
Then the wipers worked - just sort of resetting themselves and stopped.
I turned the ignition off and back on again to try them again, but there was no power at all, except to the radio panel!
All dead as a Dodo. Strange!
No matter what I fiddled with there was no power apart from the radio panel.
I thought the battery could possibly be flat, improbable, but I put it on charge anyway.
Tried the ignition again - nothing!
I have no clue what is going on.
The car was running perfectly yesterday - except for the wipers. (initially it was only the washers not working)
Now I have nothing!
I can't see anything untoward. The fuses are good. What could be wrong?
Any ideas?

Have you looked at the fuse box in the engine compartment? There are fuses and relays in it. Was it the wipers or the washers or bith that stopped working?

Re: Windscreen washer pump?
Hi and sorry I've not been back sooner, I've been laying a floor in my partner's workshop and we have been using her car.
I am now truly stumped.
If I turn the ignition on I have power to most circuits, but non to the roof or windows (there might be others) Most important I have no power to the starter, not even a click and the wipers and washers are still dead.
I have completed a visual check of the wiring and can see no problems. (Rats ate my plug wires before!)
I have started checking the fuses both inside the car and under the bonnet with no luck.
The handbook lists the fuses but does no say which is which or what rating they are and there is no diagram.
Could the non start be a relay?........... which one do I check?
Why did it cease to start while I was investigating the wipers?
The battery is charged. Or so the charger says.
I am going out to check it again now.
I am at a loss!

Re: Windscreen washer pump?
Renault electrics can be very sensitive. The relays in the engine compartment manage things such as the starter, fuel pump, wipers and heating system. In other models such as the Clio the fuse box (rather than the relays and fuses) can give problems and need replacing. All i can suggest is that you "fiddle" about with the relays but unfortunately you may need help from an auto electrician.

Re: Windscreen washer pump?
Again, sorry for the delay in replying. I have just not had time to pay any attention to my car, plus the weather has been lousy here.
I have a fine day today so am going to try one last time to find the problem. I have already phoned a garage who are phoning back. Lucky we have the use of another car!

Re: Windscreen washer pump?
I decided to go back to the fuse box after finding this in a search here.
Fuse box 'map'
Here is a 'map' of the fuses in the Wind fuse box. It may not be 100% accurate, but might save some time in looking for the reason why the wipers have stopped on a cold, dark winter's night.
Fusebox
Alternate link to the fusebox file, with restrictions on viewing hopefully removed:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzCeu2iaoOevSG1PcW5rRWhnYVE/view?usp=sharing&resourcekey=0-q-G71LQeROTjJpLVE6WKSg
The link provides what Renault decided not to!
Now armed with a plan I started checking fuses.
There seems to be two for the wipers Numbers 1 & 2 top row working right to left!
In my car No 1 is 35amp and No 2 a 15 amp. the 15 amp had blown. (I am sure I checked this one)
I can't now remember if the wipers worked at this time - the engine was still dead.
I looked for some sort of ignition fuse, suspecting a relay would probably be dodgy.
I spotted No8 fuse said Passenger Compartment Transponder and thought that sounded like something that might need a look.
Low and behold that was blown too.
I changed that too and tried the ignition and BINGO the engine fired up.
All is good but.......................
Why did they blow in the first place?
Will they blow again?
So, thank you "Mkstevo" from 2015 you are a star and I bet you don't even drive a Wind now!
"Fuse box map" is not a good title though. How about plan or diagram?
Oh, and I am still not sure if the fuses are the right amperage?
Thanks for the input!

Re: Windscreen washer pump?
Oh bother, I thought when I came to wash the windscreen and no washers!
So either the washer was dead or there was a wiring problem. £10 or so on ebay for a new pump, so I changed the washer pump. A bit of a faf removing the wheel arch inner, but all easy after that and washers work!
So was it a faulty washer pump blowing the fuse? I hope so! All is well now anyway. I will be driving with some trepidation until I am confident that the pump (I did test it) was the cause of the passenger compartment transponder fuse blowing too.

Re: Windscreen washer pump?
Back again!
Well all was good till I locked the car when the alarm started a mono tone peep that would only shut up when I unlocked it again. I have no idea about electrics or electronics or alarms.
Has anyone any ideas of anything I can try to shut it up? I would prefer it to work properly, but failing that how to disconnect it?
Cheers John.

Re: Windscreen washer pump?
Only time I get that is when I try to lock the car and something isn't shut correctly. Check the doors boot and bonnet. I found mine was happening due to an intermittent fault on the boot opening switch so it wasn't latching sometimes.
Hope you find an easy fix.
