Crash but it is a write off.

Audi pulled out in front of me; I slammed on brakes but still went into his passenger door, and crumpled it quite bad. My front right of car has scuffs, scratches, and the usual but everything else in tact. No dents but the black trim is off slightly.

I'm taking it to the same place I had the respray done. I know it will be sorted and like new but frustrated, and will be till it's done. I got it all on dashcam too.

I've had a few mishaps in this car and it appears to take quite a beating. Obviously well made.

The Wind does seem quite solid though, which is really good..I'm afraid that I've got a poor opinion of most Audi..and BMW drivers in general, seen loads of seriously poor and dangerous driving from drivers of both makes...ggrrrr !!

Yes, I try not to stereotype, etc... but it's hard not to when it appears to be the same car brands involved in accidents that shouldn't happen in the first place, especially if a bit of common sense and patience were used. Anyways, it's going gloss white 🤪

Cant think of any accidents that should happen in the first place so are you talking about all accidents? According to DfT statistics the car involved in the most accidents is the vauxall zafira folliwed by the astra, clio and corsa. Only the bmw3 made it into the top 10 and audi and mercedes were amongst those involved in the fewest accidents. Stereotyping has its disadvantages.

Can't argue with statistics I suppose...but, shall we say that..on some occasions, drivers of "powerful" cars such as Audis, BMWs and other "Boy Racer" cars...tend to take more risks ???

I'm not a huge fan of statistics, they are constantly changing. I'm surprised zafira was the top bumper considering it's something I certainly don't see often, and I do ALOT of driving. Lol, maybe that's why it's at the top; all been written off.

I have driven speedy cars, and it's difficult to drive sensibly when you have all that power at your feet.

I was cut up by a Mercedes yesterday which just missed the front left of my car, hehe. Got that on dashcam too, so those statistics surprise me. Guessing a German manufacturer was behind the tallying.

Also worth noting, if you watch the dashcam complications on YouTube they are mostly German cars up to no good so stereotyping has its advantages - see a German car, drive to the Hills! hehe.

Oh, and I mean accidents that can be 'easily' avoided.

Thank you. I need to change the title of the thread. Turns out it is a write off. Waiting to read the engineers report. The damage outside was minimal so guessing that was because it was all inside. They said its undriveable yet it was fine? Someone advise, the feeling of disappointment I'm experiencing is crushing.

As long as you are ok, you can always replace a car.

The problem with convertibles and especially older ones, is if the car chassis is damaged and moving roof does not line up and function properly, the insurance companies tend to write them off as cheaper compared to pay to repair.

Even newer convertibles can be written off, Some only two years old are scrapped, for example the newer MX5 MK4 has so many safety actions due to a front end crash it is cheaper to just write it off than repair. Airbags, dash, explosive bolts on the bonnet (pedestrian friendly bonnet) causing it to crumple. Replaceable safety electronic modules, Total software resetting, rebuild of metalwork and plastic moldings, etc.
