Hi, on look out for a Wind
Just joined and on the look out for a Wind. Im based in Kent but know I will have to travel to find one. Had a look at one on a dealers forcourt today but it was too much money for the rough condition it was in however quite liked its querky nature. Dont mnd having to do a bit of work or one ready to go. Private or dealer, high or low miles.

Hi mdw are you looking for any particular spec or choice of engine?
There’s a small selection. On Autotrader at the moment, nearly all black or blue though there is a white one too.

Hi Darren
flexible on engine size but would probably prefer the upper spec levels.
I had a look at the one in Maidstone but 4k for a car with no service history after 11000 miles,. needs a cambelt and other odds and ends seemed a bit rich to me.

Re: Hi, on look out for a Wind
Definitely make sure the cam belt has been done. All UK Winds are close in age & all should have had it done by now but I bet some owner's haven't bothered using the excuse of low mileage.
If you want to enjoy the fun of using plenty of revs go for a 1.6 with it's close ratio gearbox & Renaultsport engine.
The 1.2 is; I believe; more civilised for every day & motorway cruising due to it's higher final drive ratio & turbo torque at lower revs.
Hope you find a good one.

Re: Hi, on look out for a Wind
Was just writing the same as Pittstop. Cambelt should be done and if not would use that as bargaining on price....though I’d probably steer clear as would worry have skimped on other areas too.
Higher spec comes on the GT Line which was called Dynamique S I think on older age models. There is also a limited edition Gordini model though don’t see many for sale. But ‘normal’ Winds are already rare

There’s also the Collection special editions too! Still very rare with only 200 UK models, but you get all the toys and shiny bits on them.
Someone was advertising a black Gordini on the Facebook club site a couple of weeks ago.

Yeah the black Gordini has all black wheels too I think. Have also seen a white Gordini with grey stripes, but it was on an old car test website so that might never have been a production model

The blue on the inside of the black Gordinis makes them look a little strange to me. Black on outside with white then blue and white. Could never get my head round that.

Re: Hi, on look out for a Wind
Just found out they are asking £3600 for it.
Looks well in the pictures, but for some reason it won’t let me put them on.

Re: Hi, on look out for a Wind
Found one. It's a 1.2 GTline tce. 26k miles 12mth MOT and new rear discs, pads and minor service for £3k. Just got to sort the cambelt. Also need to source a cover for the wiper pivot point and the cover above the hazzard light switch as someone has glued a satnav mount on it. Other than that it's good to go

Brilliant reply bigjase
I absolutely agree..and would add that the Blue probably looks cleaner for longer than the Black..and mine is Black, so I should know !!

Hi MDW,
Re the Lotus engine.
Which car is that installed in? Was it one you have owned?
Do I spy a pair of Twin Choke Webbers on it?

Re: Hi, on look out for a Wind
It was in a 1988 lotus esprit n/a. I rebuilt 5-6 years ago. It was my dream car however when the uprated bare engine alone cost nearly double of the Wind I have just purchased it took the edge of enjoying it. I had a Lotus excel se before that ( same engine). They look like webbers but were twin choke delortos. I added mapped ignition to it for reliable starting and other improvements without over doing it. And with the tuned engine it waas very close to the turbo esprits in performance. Parts were just too expensive and hard to source. Then I had a couple of MR2 mk3s which also didnt get used a huge amount as it was too easy to just jump in the day to day car. However my heart is with Lotus and in a few years will be back in one.pittstop wrote:Hi MDW,
