Horn not working
Anyone had their horn stop working before?
I've checked the fuse in the glove box, and pulled out the indicator stalk to check the wire isn't damaged... Both were fine.
I've located the horn itself near the right wheel arch, I tried disconnecting it and connecting again but no luck. I can only presume I need a new horn unit?
I've ordered one from eBay so hopefully it's a case of just swapping them out.

Are you going to get a replacement that doesn't sound quite so embarrassingly feeble ?

Did you get to it going through the bonnet or through the wheel arch part? Are you able to take a picture?

Re: Horn not working
When I first got the Wind my 3 must do jobs were:
1: Get rid of the silver "frames" at the front.
2: Fit Daytime Running Lights.
3: Upgrade the horn.
As you will see from my avatar 1 & 2 done.
I decided to not bother with the horn as is seemed such a hassle to get at, so I would echo Johno's question. Just how did you get at it?

The most accessable way to get at the horn is by taking off the inner wheel splash guard. It is held on with a couple of screws and a couple of plastic retaining clips. Once off the horn is very easy to get off. It isnt really possible to get at the horn from the engine bay as it is behind the headlight. Overall a fairly easy job.

This! However, my horn appears to be buried away behind the water container, it was a pig to get to after I had the driver side wheel off, splash guard off and part of the plastic covering underneath loosened off too.Mistydogblue wrote:The most accessable way to get at the horn is by taking off the inner wheel splash guard. And wouldn't you know it the replacement horn was a slightly different fitting even though the eBay listing said fits Renault wind.. I admitted defeat and cleaned up the connection to the horn again just in case... And its only gone and started working again
Thanks for the tips and pointers everyone

The feeble OEM horn was dispatched a long time back via the wheel arch removal method a nice loud snail horn fitted so,it shouts rather then puts its hand up tentatively and says emm excuse me would you mind seeing me here

Yes....the original horn is definitely a very polite sounding parp rather than a bullying blast....almost as if it was designed to be used in a bygone and more civilised driving age !!
