Headlights
Hi folks ,can anyone recommend a really good type of main beam bulb .I have changed mine but still don't seem to get a really good cover of light .The beams seem to be narrow which must be to do with the diameter of the light body .I have also changed the dip beam but still not really brilliant and they were a so and so to fit.I have given the light cover a polish to remove the yellowing effect. Hoping for some advice

Re: Headlights
I changed my bulbs but I think when I put the beam deflectors on they burnt the cover so I am back to normal bulbs. There again I live in a built up area and the Wind is my weekend car now so not much of a problem.

Re: Headlights
Lots of unlit country lanes with no pavements for me. I’ve uprated the bulbs but they’re still poor, mix that with the low seat, a car coming the other way and no chance of seeing rocks sticking out of the hedge bottom and it makes night driving exciting!

Re: Headlights
I recently replaced mine and I light up everything, and I mean everything. I was told that the headlamps are designed to spread the light beam which apparently is “rare” for the majority of cars. The headlights I bought are a bright white if that helps.

I find the headlights are not as good as I'd like so would be interested to know the bulbs you've used too

Re: Headlights
I have used the Halfords Advanced Bright White bulbs at almost £20 each, £80 all in with sidelights as-well. I can take a picture of them working on a country road if you would like to see how good they are.

Re: Headlights
@knebby Nope, that’s my main beam and dipped beam with maximum height adjustment. I was adamant I could get lights with a very long throw and I did. I’ve had a few near misses and tried everything from Osram Xenon effect to the blue tinted ones which I now know decrease brightness. I also cleaned the headlamp units as well and have yet to be flashed by anyone as I was concerned about dazzling anyone but so far so good!
@pittstop I just got that, haha..., and no, it was completely unintentional, lol.

Re: Headlights
Thanks very much for your photos. .It looks pretty good ,I assume the adjusters are from the back under the bonnet .I will have a go at cleaning my covers ,they aren't too bad,to buy new is a complete headlight at £240 odd pound each side .

Re: Headlights
You’re welcome, and yep, the adjusters are the little white “things” just under the front of the bonnet lid. I have OCD so cleaning them properly took me ages. In fact it was my whole day off but well worth it. I hope it goes well. Let us know how you get on.
