i have looked into it had email form garage saying...

"Power will go from 100hp to 115hp and torque goes from 145 to 195 nm . there are two types of ecu fitted one will remap through the obd port and one requires the ecu to be modified which takes 3 days"

Obd remap cost is £220 including vat ecu removal and modification is £ 320

A 15% increase in bhp plus a torque increase increase from 145nm to 195 at that price would seem to be very good value.

BUT: need to check if it is "useable" by checking whether the enhanced bhp/torque is available at the same rpm or whether it is necessary to rev the guts out of it to get it.

Anyone know if a similar re-map is available for the 1.6?

I guess that most "standard" insurance companies might even refuse to insure anything out of the ordinary especially performance enhancing mods as opposed to cosmetic. Some will at a price & on receipt of full details re the mod.

Playing Devil's Advocate: Some might say what the eye doesn't see the heart won't grieve about! How would an assessor ever find out in the event of a prang? Your decision not mine.

Brakes: Probably plenty of capacity in the standard brakes for this level of performance enhancement as enhanced acceleration will not necessarily affect the max speed that they have to pull up from. Also brakes on a car like this should be designed to cope with a sportier driving style as befits the car's image.

Update re brakes: The 1.2 has the same brakes as the 1.6 so no problem there for 1.2 owners upgrading power.

A thought re re-maps (usually regarded as the better option) v in line chips.

When you have the car serviced there is a need to ensure the garage is aware of the re-map in case they accidentally affect or even remove the re-map when they plug in their diagnostics.

An in line chip can be removed prior to the service & put back later.

Back in the day I used to adjust the twin SU carbs on my MGB prior to MoT get it through the emission test. The tester knew I would re-adjust them for max performance as soon as I got my certificate!!

I've been looking into this remap stuff and came across this:-

http://www.mybluefin.co.uk/search?make=29&fueltype=3&model=569&variant=2821

it looks very good on paper! it also raises a couple of questions for me,
has anyone on here had any car remapped? if so was it worth it?
and, my engine code on the door plate is:- E4MF, the engine code in the owners manual and the website is D4FT, which does confuse confused me a wee bit, can anyone enlighten me please?
cheers!

As I understand it, the D4FT is the base Renault engine design.
The E4MF is the engine specific Wind engine, and presumably is more related to the ECU used in our cars.

There are some other companies suggesting slightly better BHP and more torque for similar prices.
Bit of a discussion under topic called ‘Renault kadjar’ in the Non-tech Wind Area - basic wind discussions.
The advantage I can see of bluefin is you can change back to the original map and reload it again yourself without having to pay each time.

Thanks Elnumber, much appreciated!
Darrenj, I think that's what I like about the bluefin, still researching though!

One think I did notice was for bluefin the software you need to install Is only for Windows and not Mac.
Having watched the video for how it works what I am also curious about is if you could install the same map on multiple Winds, or is the remap specifically created for each car taking in to account it’s mileage, wear and tear etc

From the research I've done, it apparently only does one car, it reads and stores the vin number so that it can't be used on any other car. Not sure about milage, wear and tear etc, I think I will email them later and see what kind of response I get.
