Sticky roof tips? Empty Sticky roof tips?

Post by kacey101 Tue 17 Mar 2020 - 15:23

Hi all

Any tips on what (and where) to apply to minimise the sticky roof problem?
Mine is opening but I can definitely sense a moment of stress on the motor/mechanism as it tries to overcome the sticky seal above the windscreen. I tend to manually give it a hand (push) but I'm sure some of you will have a wonderful magic solution to reduce the stickiness. WD40? Furniture Polish? Glass cleaner?
What has worked best for you?

Thanks

Hi Kacey...without a doubt the best solution that I have found is a good smear of silicone grease along all the rubber seals...especially the area along the rubbers above the windscreen.
Costs about £5 a tube, but will last for ages, and is also good for door locks and hinges.

That's good enough for me. Ordered from Amazon, £4.99 just as you said.
Many thanks

Ah yes.....but after a prolonged period of the roof not being opened, you risk tearing the rubbers above the windscreen.
£4.99 for a tube that'll last years is much cheaper than sourcing new rubbers mate 😊
