Yes, I'm on 15" wheels. Is there something you want to know about wheel changing?

17 inch alloys
Araf,
Was just generally looking. Drivers side of the car recently refurbished after a scrape against a kerb. This repair was covered under an insurance cover.
Passenger side a little marked due to the lacquer. Not too noticeable but I notice.
So started looking at after market.
Some are very reasonable.
Obviously size of wheel is 17 inch. Same size tyre. 205/40r17.
But some make references to different width wheels. How does this affect the car?
Also what's a good brand of alloy. Now I can recall Wolfrace and Momo but there are many more in fact lots more!
The insurance plan we have runs out in 2017. Currently happy with the service. But there will be only so many times to have them diamond cut.
Cheers. Gazza.

Re: After market alloy wheels
So in other words, 'everything please'
Yes, there's widths and offsets to consider. There's wheel manufacturers and there's rim sizes. All before you get to what style and colour you want.
First we need to zero in on what you want.
Generally, the smaller the wheel, the cheaper the tyre, the better the ride, and the less chance of kerbing the alloy. The downside is the current vogue for big rims with very little tyre sidewall. You can fit anything from 15" to 18" on a Wind, so are you looking for form, or function?
Next finish. I'd steer away from diamond cut rims, as water will always get under the lacquer, and they are harder to repair when damaged. If you're going to stay with paint, what colour do you want?
Once you've answered these, we can take the next step.
