They are the originals spray painted. The car is back in the morning so they can clean the tyres up. Can't wait for the sun to come out.

Re: Meet the new wheels
Having two new front tyres fitted tomorrow. Rears have already been changed due to combination of a nail in one and pothole damage on the other side. Neither were repairable but they were getting near the limit to be changed anyway.
Will look at getting my wheels done next as they look very bad compared to yours

Very good - but how long before you scratch them?

Re: Meet the new wheels
I am being careful but they will be easier to touch up. Apparently there is a limit to the number of times the alloy can be polished if kerbed, this seemed a good alternative. When the sun is on them they do shine nicely. It is meant to be nice on Sunday so it will get a good clean and polish, will add a photo then.

Thanks for the good feedback I like them but it was a risk as I wouldn't be able to take them back to the black and silver.

Nooo the garage suggested painting them to match the grills frames at the front but I am happy.

You can, but just not black/polished without a lot of work.

Re: Meet the new wheels
Having got fed up with looking at all the scratches on my wheels & in the knowledge that I would like to change them in the future I've gone for a short term cosmetic change to monochrome.
Nothing near the excellent finish on Barb's wheels: I've gone for Hammerite black.
Not brilliant but better than the shame of having all my parking scrapes on view.

Re: Meet the new wheels
looking good.
I’ve just been researching for getting mine done. Have left it for ages but the lacquer is peeling even more, so the kerb damage looks even worse.
It’s a choice (depending on cost) between refurbing and perhaps going a dark graphite colour. Or replacing them if more cost effective. Have fairly new tyres all round so don’t want to be changing wheel size

Re: Meet the new wheels
The reason I am thinking of changing wheels; once my tyres are worn out; is to reduce the wheel diameter & increase the tyre section as the potholes round here combined with low profile tyres on my GT Line's 17 inch wheels are a nightmare. At least the brushed Hammerite looks better than multiple scrapes.DarrenJ wrote:looking good.

While I was at it I also retouched the front matt black; not hammerite; areas as stone chips had taken their toll over the winter.

Re: Meet the new wheels
you have the Wolfrace Assassin wheels. I’d come across those as they are similar to the originals, but just a little different and must say think look good on the Wind. Are they still 17 inch?

I'm still looking at the Captur alloys, wonder how easy this mod might be.

Re: Meet the new wheels
I had to modify the inner wheel arches on the front to take the wider tires. think 19" might look a bit weird on a small car

Was it only on full lock you had a problem or was there a problem with diameter as well as width?
How much work was needed on wheel arches?
