Tire size question
Hi all I just joined today. I recently became the owner of a Renault Wind 1.2 TCI.
Is anyone using other than the stock tires. I would like to install 195 50 16 but am not sure if they will fit. I live in a place with loads of potholes. The other issue is that the 16" wheels that I have found are 6.5 width, with a 49 offset (ET). The stock ones listed are 7" width and 55 offset. Would this be a problem? Any info would be much appreciated.

Thank you very much! I hope that all, or at least some of us, can have a get together sometime, somewhere. I happen to reside in the Balkans, in a country called Bulgaria.

Hi,
Welcome to Wind ownership.
I get your point re potholes & the benefit of a bit more tyre depth between wheel & road.
A few things to take into consideration.
195 tyres on a 6.5j wheel is fine.
Raising the tyre ratio from 45 to 50 would increase the total diameter of the wheel & tyre by about 20mm requiring an extra 10mm of clearance under the arches etc. I doubt that would be a problem.
One forum member; I can't remember who; did increase ratio from 45 to 50 on the 1.6's 205/17 inch tyres with no clearance problem.
A change in offset could affect could affect the wheel's clearance with brake callipers etc so personally I'd seek expert advice on that.
Standard sized wheels (16 inch 6.5j. Studs 4 x 100. Bore 60.1. Offset 54. Bolt 12 x 1.50.) with your proposed 195/50/16 tyres should do the job.

I was lucky enough to holiday in Bulgaria about 15 years ago..We stayed in a place called Nessebar, not far from Sunny Beach. I seem to remember that we also took a Hydrofoil boat trip to Sofia
Its a lovely country, and you've made me think about a return trip sometime !!
