Refurbished wheels and 4 new tyres
Hello all, hope you are all well and looking forward to a little more freedom and maybe a warm summer in the near future.
The steering on my Renault Wind has been gently drifting to the left for a while so I booked it into Redpath Tyres in Edinburgh for an alignment check. The machine looked quite complicated with laser beams and flashing lights etc. The engineer told me there was nothing wrong with the alignment but that all four tyres were 8 yrs old and not all the same make. Although the wear indicators were still showing sufficient tread he advised me to fit 4 new ones. There was no charge for this as no adjustments had been made.
Having had a real good look at the wheels and tyres I took his advice and bought 4 new 205/40/R17 tyres from a wholesale distributer at Newbridge. The wheels themselves, especially at front showed evidence that there had been several close encounters with kerbs. I decided to bite the bullet and handed the car in to The Wheel Specialist, South Gyle Industrial Estate, Edinburgh to have them refurbished / powdercoated in silver. What a superb job, they also fitted and balanced the new tyres with new valves for £200.
The car is now looking great and driving in a straight line. I was delighted with the service and value for money.
Oh by the way, I recently saw an artists impression of a concept Volkswagen ID3 soft top, I think the front half looks remarkably like the front half of a Renault Wind. What do you think ? . R.B.

Sounds like a good deal having the wheels refurbished, tyres fitted and balanced with valves for £200 mate!
