Father of the House Empty Father of the House

Post by Huw (Barry The Renault) Tue 24 Nov 2020 - 20:37

For sometime I have wondered what is the oldest Wind on UK roads?
I did a quick  search for oldest and found nothing.
Of course I am keen to shower praise and gifts (no, too far), on this most wonderful vehicle and its owner, whoever he/she may be.
(And secretly I'd also like to know how long my 2011 will last..)

As far as the UK; or possible anywhere else; is concerned the oldest will be a 2010.

No reason why our Wind's should not last just as long; if not longer; than any other car of the period especially as we take better care of them than owners of "everyday" cars.

Feel sure there will be a reasonable percentage of them around in 10 yrs time.

It's a timeless classic that'll look as cool and cutting edge in another 10 years as the day it was brand new...in my opinion

Can't believe I didn't know the earliest model was 2010! Us right hand drive owners are real lucky then aren't we!
Blink and the opportunity was gone...

The best info I can find; but don't quote me; is that the Wind was introduced in 2010.

it was axed from the UK market; along with a number of other Renault models; in early 2012.

It continued to be available in other markets until 2013 when production; in the Slovenian factory where they made Twingos; ceased.

A short; & probably unprofitable; production run which leaves us with a rare car to cherish.

I think Renault were struggling so they were killing some versions and the Wind was one of them. What a mistake but we drive a rare car.
