Just asked this question on The Renault Wind Owners Club UK Facebook page and wondered if anyone wanted to join in?
So in the current situation and to cheer people up!😊 What 1st attracted you to the Wind, for me it was that I had a Twingo GT and a Mk1 MX5 and wanted something different to replace both!

Well....for me, it was the general styling and sporty looks...the spoiler in particular looks very cool..and especially when viewed through the rear view mirror !!
Also the 17 inch alloys...especially, as on mine...in gloss black
And not forgetting that....its just that little bit unique, rare and not at all run of the mill.....like a lot of the generics metal boxes that people drive around in 😊

I’ll second that Old sea dog! Mine has the gloss black 17” alloys too and being a black Collection model with the chrome bits on, I think it looks awesome. Always turns heads with it being different to other cars too!😉👍🏻

Nice pic bigjase 👍
Mine looks identical, except being a Dynamique S, doesn't have the nice chrome details....must admit ythat I really envy those chrome cowling covers on the boot lid 👌

I think you could buy them as extras from Renault along with the matching chrome mirror covers. No idea how much and whether they are still available though. A scrap Collection model is your best bet mate!😉👍🏻

The Wind was bought to replace an MGTF160.

Loved the TF; particularly it's performance & handling; but; as we got into our late 60s/early70s; it was becoming too raw for our European trips.

Saw a Wind in Italy & another in Cannes; at that point had never seen one in UK; & we thought that it might be suitable.

Did some homework on the internet & went for it.

Verdict:

Aircon: Wind Excellent climate control  TF No.

Performance: Wind OK TF160 much quicker (0-60 6.9 secs!)

Handling: Wind Good TF Excellent if you like RWD as I do.

Suspension: Wind OK TF harsh.

Noise levels: Wind good TF noisy.

Overall gearing: Wind undergeared TF OK (Wind less economical due to low gearing)

Boot in relation to size of car: Wind magnificent TF Better than most such as MX5.

Attention grabber: Wind attracts attention in Europe & UK TF turned heads in Europe.

Had the Wind 5 yrs now which is some indication that it really does do the job we bought it for.

How about a Wind with the TF 160 engine? That would be fun!!

Fair point bigjase....and I can't see me willingly parting with mine either.
They really are magnificent cars and we should all be proud of ourselves for having such good taste in automotive excellence 😊

Yeah mate... truth be told I love my black one too, it really suits the car...especially with the black wheels
Trouble is.....it gets dirty as soon as I wash it... and the birds ignore other cars, and choose to poo just on mine....mostly Herring gulls here on the coast 😂

I have a Mini Roadster which I absolutely hate, I saw the Wind one day near the beach and fell in love with it there and then. I searched high and low for the Gordini Version as I really liked it. Found it, bought it and loved it ever since. Do you think it will be a future classic? Like the Renault Spider? I would like to think it would but I'm unsure. I took it for a service the other day, to a garage that does a lot of work on classic cars and they took a picture of it.

Johno.0 for sure they are a future classic mate!
Hoping to have a meet for The Renault Wind Owners Club UK over on Facebook when everything calms down. We did have a date at Thoresby Classic car show 3rd May, but that is looking very doubtful now I’m afraid!😞
