Rear disc replacement and brake pad change Empty Rear disc replacement and brake pad change

Hi all,
I have just replaced the rear discs and put in new brake pads on my girlfriends Wind.
Pretty straightforward, except that caliper pistons were a real pain to wind in.
They just kept turning, not what I am used to, in the end had to use a large G clamp to help me push the pistons back in, then with a lot of turning they went back to their fully in position.
Not sure if this is normal, but thought I would mention it so you can be wary of it if you plan on doing the same.
BTW the car has done 15000 miles, strange that the rear pads and discs were worn before the front. I believe that they had the original pads still in. At least the discs and calipers are all nice and shiny again!

Did you replace with Renault OEM or 3rd party? I want to get lower dust pads when they come up for a change. Useful to know about the discs too.

Discs and pads were sourced I believe from General Traffic
Part no's are for the discs .... Pagid 104 74 5528
and for the pads ....Pagid 101 74 5848
The caliper pistons were extremely hard work, and I am thinking they all must be like this, as Bex's Wind has quite low mileage. If you do your pads, make sure you have some way of forcing the piston back in.
I used a large G clamp.

I used Pagids for mine- from ECP.

You need to use a wind in tool for the calipers as they have the mechanical handbrake linkage built in.  Basically the piston has to be turned by about 1/8th of a turn before it can be pressed back into the caliper a little, then turned another 1/8th turn before pressing it in further.  Repeat until the piston is fully home.

I think I did a write-up on here for changing front and rear discs and pads.

BTW, rear discs are more expensive as the rear wheel bearings are built in. You may need a puller to get the rear discs off.
