Mazda MX5RF
Just reading about the above. Looks like the nearest new car on the road to the wind. Will probably go and take a look at it in the showroom when it's launched. Have any others seen this ?

The roof looks good but £31k is a lot of money

Soft top starts ar 18,000. Will be interesting to see. A bit little the wind compared to other standard soft tops.

Re: Mazda MX5RF
Looks interesting & could be the only car available in the UK; other than the Wind; to have a retractable hardtop which doesn't reduce boot size.
That said it's boot may well be smaller than the Wind so it still might not accommodate my golf gear or holiday luggage.
Will it have a spare wheel?
Have contacted my local dealer & they say sometime in 2017, they will let me know.
So, when the time comes, I might go & have a look.
As the Fiat 124 Spider is based on the MX5 I wonder if that will eventually have an RF version.

You never know re the fiat. I like my wind but would love to look at the Mazda. Seems a very interest roof design. I think the boot is only 60% of the winds size.
Always good to look.

Re: Mazda MX5RF
With boots it's not all about size!!
My 2003 MGTF & 2001 Alfa Spider both had much smaller boots that the Wind but their width allowed them to accommodate golf: clubs, bag & a compact trolley. They also had, like the Wind, a spare wheel.
No sooner had I expressed my interest than the local Mazda dealer called to say that they would be launching the RF in Jan/Feb 2017 & one the first tranche of approx 170 cars could be ordered NOW if I cared to part with £1000 up front. I said I'd like to try my golf gear for size first.
They don't miss a trick do they.

Pittstop it looks like you are on their Radar....
See you are North Kent do you have any ideas for the International meet 2017 as the meet as it is your Area.
I watched Coast on TV last night and they covered London to Dover so I will be watching next weeks episode from Dover to Brighton.

Re: Mazda MX5RF
Pittstop - they were quick ! I agree would not part with any money for a car until I had seen it. The only time I considered this funnily enough was last year when I thought about putting down £ 1,000 for the Focus RS and just taking it as seen. it turns out a friend did the same thing and got it about 2 weeks ago. Says is unbelievable !
I will take a look at the RF though, as previously owned an RX8 and quite like Mazda's.

Re Venues. It's been many years since I got involved in such gatherings etc with the TR Register.
I vaguely remember: a winemakers near Tenterden; the annual Bromley Pageant; Dover Castle & Brands Hatch but, as I say, it was a long time ago.
What do you do elsewhere? Maybe approaches to NT or English Heritage might garner a site where: they would allocate a parking area; there would be something (eg a stately home) to visit at the same time; & there would be loos & a café.
When does this meet take place?

The only Alpine I've driven was a Sunbeam!!
It was a test drive & I nearly parted with my money until one of the sills disintegrated when I squeezed it with my hand.
The owner was not amused!!

Re: Mazda MX5RF
An extra £2k on a regular MX-5 apparently.
The roof looks overly complicated and heavy which is the opposite to the simplicity and purpose of the Miata.

Think I'd rather get a low mileage Wind for £4K ...
