Finally I'm selling the Wind 133 £3700

Post by Araf on Sat 23 Jul 2016 - 12:56

I've just removed my registration number from my Wind, in order to get it ready and advertised for sale by the end of the weekend.

New registration is its original plate SD61 SBY, and I'll be attaching the old plates to the car soon.

I'm thinking of putting it up for £4250, and haggle from there.  Is this the sort of price that people are paying for cars with under 40k miles on the clock, or should I reconsider?

I paid just over £5,000 for mine.  Main Renault dealer.  Had service, air regass, one new tyre new read brake pads.   I would think you should advertise for £4,995 ?

Bullyboy,
I'm a bottom-feeder when it comes to buying cars and price the same when selling - so that they go and I can get on with life.  The longest I've waited for a sale was two weeks, and the shortest was 3 hours from 'for sale' to money in my hand and waving the vehicle goodbye.

Elnumbre, it's a 2011 133 GT Line with 38k on the clock.  3 main dealer services, and the latest from a friend's garage, as I have it serviced every year.  New brakes fitted by me in the past year (detailed on here I think).
Fitted with 15" Renault wheels for a more comfortable ride.

Yeah, but it's going.  Mind made up now.  Time for a clear out.  Another car and a couple of bikes may go too.  Shocked

I've never cosseted it, but it hasn't been abused, nor scrimped on.  Always run on Super Unleaded and seen by an expert about twice as often as in the book. Smile

I reckon you're better off asking for £5k and coming down from there - current market suggests you will perhaps get £4.5k, unless you need a quick sale.

The problem is that loads are at £5k and at dealers, so how do I get people interested in a private sale in the corner of the country for similar money?

People have already commented elsewhere "I was going to see that one, but there was one closer" and "I thought about that one, but they were asking £5k for it" so I need to make it worth someone making the journey.

We know you have looked after it. And you are the point of contact for all probs. How many times have you taken the Wind to pieces to help on issues?

Always happy to have a poke around, and I do know one end of a spanner from the other.

Guess I'll have to give it a good clean tomorrow.

BTW, I tried removing the chrome cowls, and they ain't shifting, so they will have to stay with the car.

End of the day it's what you want to do but don't under sell it as summer is wind time.   I would think £4995 will net you £4750 as everyone likes to haggle.

Good luck

Okay, we'll see.  You two have bought more recently, so you'll be closer to the market than me.

Well, I slept on your suggestions, but have stayed with my low valuation to make the car the cheapest on Pistonheads, undercutting a dealer by only £250.

Yes, it's at what I think is a 'buy me' price, but that's because it needs to be sold.

Looks good - Id mention if it is full or part leather seats, and if you have heated seats.  Also say that the roof is 12 seconds.

Those wheels look tiny LoL - did you fit them aftermarket and if so did they really make a difference?  I was thinking of getting some winter wheels to avoid bashing up the current ones too much.

Standard seats without heating, so I haven't mentioned the fact.

8 seconds to put the windows back up? Wink

As for the wheels, yes, I fitted them.  They're proper Renault ones, so no spigot rings and the correct offset for the car.  And Yes, the extra 1"of air does save the crashy driving country roads.  Smile

No interest at all at that price point, so the car has been reduced to £3900

I would hope so, but then some thought my first price was too low, yet not a single call in a week.

WBAC have offered £3665 so they can have it once my adverts run out.

Sorry to hear its not sold, looked again today there are 45 nationally and the lowest are just under £ 4,000 with one being a CAT C or D ?  Most in the country and priced from £ 4,500 - £ 5,500.

I hope you do sell it, unless desperate I would list somewhere else after pistonheads just incase....  but if your happy with WBAC at USD 3665 then go for it.

if I was offered yours when looking for mine would have definitely taken a hard look - only negative to me (not being rude to you ) is the wheels.

Keep us posted.

I like the wheels part of the reason I had mine sprayed. Looks good on the blue cars especially when the sun is out.

Apart from one less car on the drive, I already have. Wink

Elnumbre,
I have a pair of wheels - the same as the ones in the pictures, with winter tyres on.  They don't get a lot of use each year, and will be for sale once the car has gone.

I've also got a different set of scabby 15" wheels with other tyres on.  Again, I'll post details once the car has gone.
