Cirencester Gloucestershire.
Myself and the Mrs have just had a 4 day camping trip to Brean Sands in Somerset, where the weather was amazing. Roof off for the whole journey.
We were surprised that we got everything we needed in the boot, tent, mini bbq etc.
As for the attention the car gets, mixed views, but most people like it.

Yes the attention can vary. On meets we have heard the comments (hairdresser's convention) but it's worth it to see a line if Winds.
