Cup / Drinks Holder
Anyone put a cup / drinks holder in their Wind. Is a bit tight on space, just wondering if anyone has any clever ideas? Carrying hot coffee in my lap is going lead to an accident .

The front of the side pockets are supposed to be drinks holders.
BTW, my rule is that carrying anything when your supposed to be concentrating on the driving could lead to an accident.

I wonder if it is possible to 3D print something to go in the storage pocket in the rear. The pocket doesn't seem very deep, but there may be options for transporting an emergency MaccyDs home
Re: Cup / Drinks Holder
Love the way you say emergency maccyd. Lol

I have Cds. In mine. There are 3d printing companies out there if you don't have access to a 3d printer. A simple click in cover with two holes for drinks. Box insets or dividers would be simple for them to do.

These printers look incredible. Would love to have a play with one but not willing to buy one, yet....

@barbs yes they are great, however the printers for home use are a bit touch and go. Some designs you need to integrate snapp off supports for it to print properly. I am looking forward to this technology progressing . I have a 3d pen where you draw 3d objects. Cheaper and great fun to use.

Bring it to the Lakes we can design a new Wind... I see a flaw there, I like the shape of the one I have.

If I burn my thighs/balls, I'll just have to tell the plastic surgeon I didn't have coffee holder solution.

Huw, I think you need to drink cool drinks. I am sure Fiona would not like Hospital visits.

Re: Cup / Drinks Holder
If it ever stops raining, might try and get some measurements in the cabin, as I can only find cad drawings of the outside. Might also try getting a 3d point cloud with my kinect sensor (worth a YouTube).
Re: Cup / Drinks Holder
Once we've got measurements we can build in 3d and see how much it will cost to print.
Re: Cup / Drinks Holder
Well if it works we have at least 19 French Winds that might be interested...

Re: Cup / Drinks Holder
The best way to do it is look for a 3d printing company. Ask what software they use. Download design it then send the file to them for them to print. Remember to state what colour you want

Re: Cup / Drinks Holder
The problem I foresee is it may be quite expensive to 3D print, especially in large numbers. But if there is sufficient interest, it may be feasible to get a load made from injection molding, like most vehicle plastics, but I expect that it would be a minimum of ~100 units.

Re: Cup / Drinks Holder
It could be an option. You could also cover the wedge part of that with a load of Velcro and stick it to the rear bulkhead.
I did take some measurements of the rear pocket last weekend to put it in CAD but the buggeration factor is that its pretty much all curves. However I did note that the lower part has a lip which could perhaps be used as a hook to hang something from, thereby leaving the pocket free for other stuff.

Re: Cup / Drinks Holder
I had a look and I don't think that that product will work as designed. There isn't really any gear tunnel between the seats in which to wedge the holder. However, I still think that some Velcro additions might do the job.
Re: Cup / Drinks Holder
Did anyone find a solution to a good cup/bottle holder?
Planning on doing long trips in the WIND so would like to get something in place.

Re: Cup / Drinks Holder
I've just found that some troublemaker called @Araf fitted an armrest to his Wind. Wonder if that could be tweaked to hold a cup or two.

Re: Cup / Drinks Holder
I'm sure I remember that when I got my Wind new in 2011 there was a plastic so called cup holder thing that wedged in to the door pocket, much like Barbs photo. It was neither use nor ornament and filled the pocket so it lasted about two days before I took it out. Goodness knows what I did with it....

I think that some models did have a cup holder thing where the USB is.
