Front brakes been changed? Tyres? Only wear and tear to be expected at that mileage.

My wipers seem to be scrapping the screen. Is there some adjustment I should be making to them?

No adjustment possible. If the metal parts are scraping the screen, then get new wiper blades before the screen gets marked.

Its not metal, its the rubber blades, they seem to rub against the windscreen a bit too hard. Maybe they are worn, or maybe they are a bit tight, or maybe they need some of that silicon grease to make them operate smoothly?

Re: MOT due end of March 2016
Took mine in for wheel balancing and tracking as I was picking up vibration on the front. Both were out, but the garage told me that there is also free play on the steering, either the track rod end or ball joint. I have it covered on the warranty which I bought with the car (the warranty issuer has confirmed it is covered) but my Wind has only done 23K miles. Is this a common problem on the Wind?

Re: MOT due end of March 2016
The ball joint is definitely a problem on the first Winds think they sorted it on later ones. I had a track rod end replaced on mine cheap repair. The Service due soon light came on yesterday so will be booked in before the Adventure.

Re: MOT due end of March 2016
The front end of the car is very weak mechanically (not so the back, for some reason, maybe engine weight at the front).
We have all had our troubles right from new... balljoints, cv joints and covers and clips failing, track rods, shock absorbers, and broken coils, you name it. The car should have been more robust.
Other than that the car is fine
PS...Luckly we all just get one or two faults of the above, so it is not as bad as it seems, and easily rectified with a handfull of cash, but we do dread the MOT nowadays.
At the end of the day, we still love our Winds, even with its troubles

Re: MOT due end of March 2016
Turns out to be two new track rod ends, covered by the warranty, though it doesn't cover the readjustment of the tracking afterwards!
I'll have to go slower over the potholes and speed bumps in future. During the summer I got Transport for London's insurer to reimburse me for a new alloy wheel and tyre after both were damaged when I went over a big hole in the North Circular Road.

Re: MOT due end of March 2016
Your lucky as we have a tight fisted Argyll and Bute council that will not pay out for any pothole damage.
They threaten us by saying if they paid for pothole damage, they would have to save by going from a 2 week bin collection to a 3 week collection. Which would be disgusting, rat infesting and fly tipping future.

Re: MOT due end of March 2016
Pothole was due to unfinished roadworks with no cones. I went back and took photos and made a sketch. It was passed on to TFL's insurer and I made a big fuss. Took a few weeks but in the end they settled in full. Wasn't the Wind but my previous car.

Re: MOT due end of March 2016
OK, give us an idea of your costs for service once its done, and if you used independant or renault dealer?
I just use kwik fit for oil & filter change end of last year, and that was £54. Not changed plugs yet.

£209.60 that included new spark plugs. Which were £65. Might of got a bit longer but didn't want to risk any problem on holidays.
