Miles per gallon
Don't often worry about miles per gallon but out of interest what are people getting?
Coming back from Kent we got stuck in a tailback so I started playing with switches first the radio trying to get Traffic alerts and as usual just as we got through the problem whatever it was an alert came on.

Re: Miles per gallon
About 38/39 to the gallon, my driving is about 120 miles motorway (cruise at 75) 40 miles open B roads and the rest mixed, it beats my old Mercedes 2.2 diesel overall which returned 46 on the motorway (according to the trip anyway) but only 36 around town and was always broken.
In comparison my twingo with the same engine which the wind replaced would do 39.93 to the gallon (according to the road trip app) but was a lighter car driven around 72 on the motorway (no cruise control)

Re: Miles per gallon
Current chop is managing 36.1 over the last 3500 miles. Unfortunately the data between 0-25000 miles is now lost on the old forum, but from what I remember this is the best we've had (all previous being between 34 and 36) so I guess the engine is finally starting to loosen up.

Re: Miles per gallon
Managed to get 39.9 at an average speed of 56mph that's smooth driving with only two instances of "revving it up" no air con today though which usually knocks an mpg or too off.

Re: Miles per gallon
Just filled mine. 377.6 miles, 36.19 litres.
That's about 47mpg for the trip, and it has upped by average over the last 1600 miles to 39.4mpg

Just comic effect flower.

Re: Miles per gallon
Are we all not talking about different engines here, the 1.2i and the 1.6i.
If I remember the 1.2i gets round about 15 MPG to 20 MPG more than the 1.6i
I am only getting on my 1.6i between 28 MPG to 32 MPG at best, depending on how far my foot is planted on the accelerator pedal
It seems to be getting worse as the years progress, maybe need to change the spark plugs, and air filter to improve figures. Done none of that.

If the car hasn't done the miles, chances are that the parts you mention will still be fine.
It sounds like you're enjoying your car. Ours is a 1.6, but we were on cruise at 60 all day to get 47mpg.

Re: Miles per gallon
Yeh, I am on country winding roads up here all the time, so its a lot of gearchanges and foot work. Hence the not so good fuel figures.
