This next gear review from 2011 seems to like the Wind

Aye not a bad review, didn't mention to came in a 1.6 and seemed to reference it to a Clio lots when many parts are Twingo. Thought it was funny how he mentioned the wiper goes the wrong way cos it's an early production model, both Renaults we have owned have the wipers go the wrong way and I love how Renault can't be bothered to move the single door look from passenger to drivers side for a right hand drive car

I could be wrong, but the Irish may not have had the 1.6, due to the emissions, and the extra tax that would put on the top of the purchase price.
The wipers was a mistake on his part, as RHD cars have the extra cam in the mechanism to increase the sweep on the drivers side.
As for the Clio references, both the Twingo II and the Wind were built on the Clio II architecture. The 1.2TCE is also an engine that was in the Clio III before the Wind.

All intresting back ground on the parts bin used, the 1.6VVT is from a Megane if I am right ? The streering wheel is as he say big for a small car, is that also Megane?

I think they are pretty similar across the range. Smile

Yea it does seem that the Wind is a bit of a mish-mash of bits from across the range. Just replaced the front disks on my 1.6 and was interested to note that the box they came in had them down as disks for a Laguna.

I think that happens with all manufacturers. The less unique parts they have to stock, the less space they need to carry a full inventory for their products.

And makes it easier to get parts too, the more unique the car the harder it is to get parts

Another obscure fact....

The recessed handle space of the Wind comes from the old Renault 5 design.

Only downside is that paint can scratch in there due to your fingernails. It did on my Renault 5, so have been careful on my Wind.

Though if I remember I did eventually buy the optional recessed stainless steel plates to hide the scratches on the R5, before selling it.
