New Number Plates Empty New Number Plates

Anyone got any recommendations for new Number Plates. Mine had a thin plastic skin on and its come off and now the numbers and lettering are starting to break down.  Sam (the Twingo) had some nice plates that were raised and stuck with double sided tape that looked good but don't want to end up on the wrong side of the law.

Wait until they arrive before saying thanks - and anyway, it's only a link I gave.

If you're sticking them on, then get some of this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Black-Extra-Strong-Permanent-Double-Sided-Self-Adhesive-Foam-Car-Trim-Body-Tape-/261823609356?var=&hash=item3cf5e73a0c

12mm or 19mm will be fine, and you need to cut four 12mm strips or three 19mm strips to go vertically on the number plate.  Stick them to the number plate, then stick the plate to the car, apply pressure and rub to get rid of bubbles, and that should be it.

If your old plate was screwed on, and you're going to do the same with this, then remove the old plate, and use it as a template for drilling the holes in the new one.

Good luck. Smile

Update..

I want to stick number plate on the car, Graham wants to drill holes in the Plates, fear of it not sticking with the tape they supplied.  So the plan now is to take the plates into Work and ask the nice Guys down the road to fit them.

Before I make the final decision does anyone have stuck on Plates.

Yes, the current ones are screwed (by the garage at thelast MOT), but the old ones were previously stuck on.  The truck has stuck on plates too.

What's the legal stance on pressed plates then?

If they're the correct font, the correct spacing, BSI stamped, and carry the maker's identity, they're fine.

If they're German plate font, and incorrectly spaced, you're asked to be tugged.

Do the plates not need to be reflective though which the steel isn't? In most cases anyway; unless they stick some kind of vinyl on it these days as if its not reflective ampr cameras can't read the reg
